How to maintain the Quantum Hi-Capacity Magazine

Using dry PTFE spray lubricant

It is important to maintain the Quantum Hi-Capacity Magazine properly to ensure the correct pellet / slug feed into the rifle’s barrel. Please follow the procedures as outlined below.

General Maintenance

Clean the Quantum Hi-Capacity Magazine regularly using a soft-bristle brush to remove dust and debris from the main mechanism and carrier system. This brush should be non-metallic – ie have plastic or Nylon bristles. If necessary, use low-pressure compressed air to remove any loose particles.

Clean the Quantum with a soft-bristle brush to remove any debrisBefore applying lubricant (see below), always ensure the pellet carrier system is fully cleaned. Applying lubricant to a dirty mechanism will cause dust and debris to clump together, so will affect the smooth operation of the carriers.

Lubrication

After cleaning – and at approximately every 50 full cycles of the magazine – apply a light coating of dry* PTFE spray to the ‘Index 8’ carrier system. This will reduce friction and, therefore, wear. It will also maintain the free-running of the carrier system.

* Important: You must only use a dry lubricant, such as WD-40 Specialist PTFE Dry Lube or equivalent. Do not use a conventional ‘wet’ lubricant or oil as this will affect the smooth operation of the Quantum.

Spray the carriers with PTFE ‘dry’ lubricantAfter you have applied the dry lubricant, manually rotate the Quantum’s magazine mechanism through several full cycles. This helps distribute the lubricant evenly throughout the carrier system. Take care not to over-lubricate it and allow the PTFE spray to dry completely before operating the magazine in the rifle.

Once the spray is fully dry, rapidly rotate the carriers a few times to fully disperse the lubricant particles

Good Practice

  • Do not release the control knob in an uncontrolled manner if all the carriers are not loaded with pellets / slugs – this will damage the leading pellet / slug
  • Do not force the gate hinge past its stop point when loading ammo
  • Do not store the Quantum magazine long-term with its spring under tension
  • Always use the correct Quantum magazine in the BRK Brocock / Daystate PCP rifle model for which it is intended
  • Always check the magazine’s caliber matches that of the rifle before inserting into the receiver
  • Do not disassemble the Quantum – there are no user-serviceable parts

New Quantum Hi-Capacity Magazine

Increases payload of Alpha Wolf, Delta Wolf and Blackwolf

Daystate’s new Quantum Hi-Capacity Magazine extends both the fast-fire and payload capability of certain Daystate PCP air rifle models.

Innovative Design

An official factory Performance Center upgrade, the Quantum features a number of innovative design features. It’s 3D Printed from computer-generated, digital design using state-of-the-art additive manufacturing processes now widely incorporated into many world-leading industries, such as in aerospace and Formula 1 motorsport. It is therefore a natural choice for Daystate’s class-leading airguns.

Unlike most magazines, which are chain- or belt-driven, the new Daystate Quantum Hi-Capacity Magazine uses a localised, two-gear drive system with a cam-guided motion. As its primary gear rotates, it automatically engages the secondary gear, ensuring a perfectly synchronized feed of ammo.

Additionally, the new Quantum introduces the ‘Link 8’ concept – a horizontal figure-of-eight carrier system. Individual carrier pairs interact dynamically depending on their position within the magazine’s cycle, ensuring jam-free operation and perfect alignment when finally presented to the breech / bore of the rifle. This results in no loss of accuracy compared to single-shot feed.

Compatibility

The Quantum is suitable for both pellets and slugs. Specific-fit versions are available for the following Daystate models:

  • Alpha Wolf & Delta Wolf electronic PCP
  • Blackwolf PCP

(BRK Brocock versions of the Quantum are also available for the Ghost and certain XR2 models, here.)

Note: The Quantum can be loaded into the receiver from either the right- or left-hand side on the Alpha and Delta Wolf models. However, it is left-hand fit only for the Blackwolf.

Caliber and Capacity

The Quantum is available in four calibers, with payloads as follows:

  • .177″ / 4.5mm – 30-shot
  • .22″ / 5.5mm – 28-shot (Alpha / Delta Wolf)
  • .22″ / 5.5mm – 26-shot (Blackwolf)
  • .25″ / 6.35mm – 24-shot
  • .30″ / 7.62mm – 22-shot

Operation and Maintenance

The Quantum Hi-Capacity Magazine features a gate-loading face to facilitate pellet / slug insertion. It is straightforward to use and comes with a comprehensive Operating Guide. It also requires minimal maintenance, other than occasional treatment with a dry, PTFE-based spray lubricant.
