Description
Daystate PCP Power Hammer Spring
Mainspring for Daystate air rifle power adjustment – all mechanical models
All mechanical Daystate PCP models are equipped with hammer spring to control their power. (This does not apply to the electronically-controlled PCP air rifles, such as the Alpha Wolf.) However, hammer springs can weaken or corrode over time. So they may eventually need to be replaced.
History of Hammer Spring Types
Daystate has produced many rifle models and configurations since the company’s inception in 1977. The construction of our springs has changed over the years. Currently, springs are British-made. They are also plated and manufactured with closed, squared-off ends. However, Daystate’s early PCP air rifle models may feature non-plated hammer springs. Also, some very early rifles have a spring that was cut to length by the factory to control the gun’s power. (Therefore, a ‘cut; end does not necessarily mean the original spring is broken.)
Compatibility
There is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ power hammer spring for mechanically-cocked Daystate PCP air rifles! The correct spring depends on the rifle’s model, age, caliber and, also, its factory-set power specification.
So, when you order an official factory replacement Power Hammer Spring for your Daystate PCP, we need as much detail as possible. This will help the factory identify the correct spring for your rifle. Additionally, we can provide a more suitable alternative where an original is no longer viable.
Therefore, when ordering, please complete all the information requested so we can provide the correct-fitting spring.
Note: The fitting a replacement spring does not guarantee that the rifle will produce the correct muzzle energy without adjustment.
Rifle Power
After fitting a new Power Hammer Spring, the rifle’s muzzle energy must be checked with a chronograph. If necessary, it must be adjusted to comply with the prevailing laws in your country or state.
This is particularly important for UK shooters who are governed by the sub-12 ft/lbs power law. In England and Wales, an air rifle capable of exceeding 12 ft/lbs requires a firearm certificate (FAC) issued by the police.
If your rifle is currently held on a UK FAC, you must provide us with a copy of it. (This is requested during the ordering process.)
Law
The person fitting the hammer spring (and also whoever uses the rifle afterwards) is responsible for ensuring it complies with the law. We therefore recommend that you have your Power Hammer Spring changed by an authorised Daystate Service Agent. In any event, you should not undertake any work on your rifle if you do not feel qualified to do so.
You must be over 18 years of age to purchase this component.
