Description
Daystate Blackwolf Barrel Tensioner
Available for 17, 23 and 28 inch barrel
The Daystate Blackwolf Barrel Tensioner improves barrel harmonics and, therefore, downrange accuracy. It is easy to fit and requires no special tools. Three versions are available – 17 inch, 23 inch and 28 inch. You must select the correct one to match your Blackwolf’s barrel length.
What does a barrel tensioner do?
Barrel harmonics are an important factor in a rifle’s accuracy. All barrels vibrate during the firing cycle, creating node and antinode points. Adjusting the wavelength of this vibration can have a dramatic effect on accuracy. This is because it dictates how well the projectile leaves the bore as its starts its journey to the target.
A barrel tensioner lets you add some tension of the rifle’s barrel. So this changes the frequency (or wavelength) at which the barrel vibrates during the firing cycle. Many target shooters swear by barrel tensioning devices.
Note: Some Blackwolf models come with a Barrel Tensioner already fitted. Currently, it is factory-fitted to:
- Blackwolf Grey Laminate (Cylinder and Bottle Type)
- Blackwolf Walnut (Cylinder and Bottle Type)
- Blackwolf TAC (Tactical)
However, the tensioner is currently not fitted to the following Blackwolf models:
- Carbon Grey
- Zero
How to fit the Barrel Tensioner
Instructions are provided. But fitting a Barrel Tensioner to the Daystate Blackwolf PCP air rifle is easy! Simply unscrew the Blackwolf’s outer barrel shroud – a carbon-fiber tube – and slide it off from the muzzle end. This exposes the Blackwolf’s barrel, so you can remove the end nut.
Now, slide over the carbon-fiber barrel tensioner tube. Then refit and hand-tighten the nut at the muzzle end. You should set the nut only to a hand tightness. This is equivalent of 3Nm (maximum).
Once the Tensioner has been fitted in place, refit the outer carbon-fiber barrel shroud.
Important: You must not overtighten the tensioner tube!!!
