Description

Indexing Pin Blanking Plug

An Indexing Pin Blanking Plug is desirable on the Daystate Red Wolf, Wolverine, Pulsar and Renegade PCP air rifles for magazine conversion. When upgrading the Daystate legacy 10-shot rotary mag to the new style, gate-loading self-indexing magazine, you should replace the rifle’s indexer pin with a dummy plug.

Different systems

For the old style magazine, the factory-fitted indexing pin moves up during the firing cycle to engage with the magazine pawl. The new style, self-indexing magazine uses a self contained indexing system, with no pawl. Running a new style magazine in a Daystate Red Wolf, Wolverine, Pulsar or Renegade with the indexing pin still fitted may result in the fracturing of the indexing pin, which can then jam the magazine making removal difficult.

How to tell what is fitted

The moveable indexing pin is bronze in colour. The dummy Indexing Pin Blanking Plug has a silver appearance (see image).

Fitting

It is easy to convert the rifle to accept the new style Daystate gate-loading, self-indexing magazine system. Only a hex tool is required and no specialist gunsmithing skills. However, you may not feel confident to do this conversion. So, you should then take the rifle to your local authorized Daystate Service Center.

Conversion

Remove air from the rifle to lessen any back pressure on the core vale – which could jam the two hex bolts. Unscrew the hex bolts and lift the cover plate from the breech bay. Replace the existing O-ring, spring, cup and indexing pin with the new larger O-ring and silver Blanking Plug. Then replace the cover plate. Effectively, the conversion removes the need of the indexing pin, its seating cup, dedicated spring and small O-ring.

Important

Warning: In some instances, converting to the new pawl-less self-indexing Daystate magazine can increase the power of your rifle due to removing small energy losses in the original indexing system. After upgrading the magazine, you should always check the rifle’s power to ensure it complies with any prevailing legislation.
